We'll get to the extensions in a minute. But we've just received a report that Kate Gosselin spent Friday night hitting up -- this is just weird -- New York City young-celeb hot spots like Butter and Spin. Is she pulling a Jon on us?

Why Kate, mom of eight felt the need to show her face (and bare legs and toes in frigid New York City temperatures) at the spots where Lindsay Lohan and the Olsen twins hang out is well beyond us. But apart from the senselessly exposed winter skin (okay Kate, you have a year-round tan, we get it), Kate Gosselin did make an effort to make those extensions work for her.

As far as hair goes, this is the Kate Gosselin look I happen to like best so far. It's manageable, not mangy; it's cute but not trying too hard. Unfortunately earlier this week we busted Kate with her most yikes!-yielding hair day to date, and it appears she realized the no-brush-rush wasn't her most flattering look either. We get that she's a mom of eight, but she's still a public figure. Where there's publicity, there's style scrutiny: way to take the recommendation, Kate.
