Katherine Heigl Back On The Set Of Grey's Anatomy
Katherine Heigl was back on the set of Grey's Anatomy shooting for the forthcoming season and giving away no clues about the fate of her character, Izzie. "Our first day back was Wednesday and it was — I’m going to keep saying this because I hope it embarrasses them — a 17-hour day," she said, adding, "which I think is cruel and mean.
" Izzie was last seen turning up flat lines on her monitors. But Heigl would not give the game away as to whether or not the doctor survives a rampaging melanoma that has spread to her brain and other organs. "You last saw Izzie, you know, flatlining. So I won't give it away but, you know, I'm there so I'm either there as a ghost, on the other side, or I survived a disease no one survives." She did hint that she could lapse into a coma, which was shown to be one of Izzie's greatest fears in last season's episodes. Heigl said in another television interview that the plot gave her hairdresser a cue to "shake it up" and dye her hair red even though Izzie is a blonde. The character has lost her hair in the course of cancer and wears a scarf, allowing Heigl to take the step. Of her contract, which was the subject of news speculation, she said: "We have another two years, I think, at least in the contract. Hopefully the show goes, you know, ER time, which would be cool." Grey's Anatomy returns to ABC on September 24.
