Dressing Up for the Gym

Some of us are high-maintenance, and some of us aren't. I fall into the second group, but that doesn't mean I don't like to get fancy when I know a lot of eyes will be on me. Sometimes I wonder if other people include the gym as somewhere they need to look nice for... Katy Perry appears to primp before hitting the treadmill (shown). What about you?

When I'm getting ready for the gym, I can quickly (depressingly?) come up with a list of reasons why I might want to look slightly pretty. I can't bear to wear sweats anymore, and here's why:

*I feel motivated when I am wearing something form-fitting. I also feel faster when I run in Spandex. Zing!

*I truly enjoy some of my cosmetics. A slick of the ridiculously tasty Rachel Perry Lip Lover balm makes everything taste better. Not only will I have some shine on my lips, but they will be scrumptious. Really. If you haven't tried this balm, you must.

*I can comfortably wander about the free weights without being intimidated. I like to look good at the gym because it makes me feel more confident, which in turn pushes me to try new things. Weird kettle-thingies, here I come!

*I like to put my best face forward when I go to the park or track, too, mostly because I don't know who I'll meet (much like Katy Perry and the paps!). Tinted moisturizer is great for outdoor runs, because you can get it with SPF as well. Try it mixed with traditional sunscreen for the best effect, and make sure everything you pick up is non-comedogenic.

After I see pics like Katy Perry's on her gym trip, I feel even more motivated to look better for my workouts. What about you? Do you make an effort before you work out, like on your outfits or makeup and hair?
