Kelly Osbourne opens up on the subject of a past addiction to the painkiller Vicodin in her new book, Fierce. Osbourne, 25, earlier said she would cover the issue in order to prevent other teens from falling into the same trap.

The daughter of rockers Ozzy and Sharon writes that her relationship with the drug spun out of control after initially being prescribed the substance. "I was waking up and emptying six Vicodin into my hand. Soon I was taking 50 pills a day. Most people would overdose on 10. My friends called me 'Noddy' because I fell asleep all the time." In spite of her mother's suspicions and questions about what she was taking, Osbourne managed to hide the problem from her parents. It was only when she received treatment at the Malibu rehab facility Promises that she was able to break the habit. Britney Spears was also treated there. Osbourne said she used her own soul-searching to help readers of her book. She writes in the book's summary blurb on the Amazon website: "Who is Kelly Osbourne? I'm still not totally sure. But I do know who I’m not, and I want to help other people make the right decisions with the difficult choices we all face when growing up. So I’ve gone out and got the best advice I can find from people I love, respect and always listen to."
