Lacey Brown Voted Off American Idol
Brown gets the boot.
Lacey Brown became the first contestant on American Idol's Top 12 to be eliminated Wednesday night, after underwhelming the judges with "sleepy" vocals.
That's what newbie judge Ellen Degeneres said about Brown's pipes.
During her performance of songs like Brandi Carlile's "The Story" and Sixpence None the Richer's "Kiss Me, the 24 year-old Texan apparently tried to make up for her lackluster vocals by looking cutesy for the camera.
The judges repeated their comments regarding the concern that Brown paid too much attention to her physical stage performance and not the actual singing, and in the end it earned her a ticket home.
This was Brown's second appearance on American Idol. She was cut from the Top 50 last season, and after earning the hearts of the judges during auditions and early rounds this year, made it all the way to the Top 12 this year.
Her dismissal came after recieving the lowest votes, just behind Tim Urban and Paige Miles.
But the night wasn't all contestant drama. Last year's Idol winner, David Cook, was on hand for a performance of "Jumpin' Jack Flash," while pop starlett Kesha belted out "Blah Blah Blah."
