Lady Gaga Claims She's a Fashion Expert
Enlightenment or nonsense?
Whether you love or hate Lady Gaga, there's no denying she has a very strong interest in fashion. But did you know she's totally knowledgeable about it, too? In her first column for V magazine, Lady Gaga discusses just how fashion obsessed and smart she is. Or does she?

Last month, we reported that Lady Gaga was assigned a new job as a fashion columnist at V magazine. Huge news for Gaga, but we couldn't quite imagine what that would mean. Well, in Lady Gaga's first column, she basically goes on and on about how smart she is when it comes to fashion. Does it make anyone else think she's trying to show off a little too much?
Gaga stars by professing her obsession with fashion as she says, "Glam culture is ultimately rooted in obsession, and those of us who are truly devoted and loyal to the lifestyle of glamor are masters of its history. Or, to put it more elegantly, we are librarians." OK, fine; nothing wrong with being obsessed with fashion.
But then she claims, "I myself can look at almost any hemline, silhouette, beadwork or heel architecture and tell you very precisely who designed it first, what French painter they stole it from, how many designers reinvented it after them and what cultural and musical movement parented the birth, death and resurrection of that particular trend."
.
Really? Really? I mean, I suppose it's possible, but I'd love to test out Lady Gaga's skill when it comes to this. Maybe I'm not giving her enough credit. She even comments on the egg outfit she wore to Grammys saying, "There is no chicken or egg. It's molecular. Cells give birth to cells. To put it more bluntly, the Hussein Chalayan vessel I wore at the Grammys wasn't inspired by a chicken. It was stolen from an egg."

Er, OK. Honestly, I'm not quite sure what to make of Lady Gaga's first column for Vmagazine. I found myself rolling my eyes and laughing through much of it, but perhaps I'm just not smart enough to get it. Now I'm just thoroughly confused.
What did you think of Lady Gaga's first column for V magazine?
