You're Like Roommates, But With Responsibilities

Have you ever rolled over after sex and thought to yourself, "Do I really have to sleep next to this guy?" If so, you're not alone. A growing trend reveals married couples are choosing to sleep in separate beds, and they're saving their sex lives as a result.

Maybe one of you snores like a freight train. Maybe the other gets up to pee every five minutes. Whatever your foible, the odds of disturbing your partner in bed are high. That's why some relationship experts are touting the benefits of divided sleeping areas. 

Think about it, you wouldn't have to argue about pillows or hogging the covers or how one of you tosses and turns and the other drools.

Also, being away from each other sparks even more desire when you do reunite. You know, the old absence makes the heart grow fonder concept.

"For some couples it increases their desire because it's like going back to dating," says relationship expert Denise Knowles. "Making love in their partner's bedroom then going back to their own to sleep can be thrilling."

While I'm all for doing whatever it takes to keep the spice alive in your marriage, is there something incredibly sad about a couple who has to sleep in different rooms in order to be interested in each other? Then again, a peaceful night's sleep is pretty awesome ...
