Lance Armstrong Announces Retirement
He wants to focus on his kids.
Lance Armstrong is hanging up the pedals... for good this time. The seven-time Tour de France champion has announced that he is officially retiring from competitive cycling in order to spend more time with his family.

The 39 year-old cyclist is one of the most decorated athletes in sports. He won the Tour de France, arguably the most prestigious bicycle race in the world, a record seven times and has been named sportsman of the year several times throughout his career.
And he did all of it after beating cancer. Armstrong was was able to overcome testicular cancer (with a tumor that had metastasized to his brain) after being diagnosed in 1996.
His Lance Armstrong Foundation supports people affected by cancer, and is one of the top 10 groups funding cancer research after raising more than $325 miilion from sales of yellpw Livestrong bracelets.

In 2005, Lance announced his retirement after winning his record seventh consecutive Tour de France, but he returned in 2009.
Armstrong has five children, three with ex-wife Kristin Richard and two with current girlfriend Anna Hansen.
