Lawrence Taylor Arrested On Rape Charges

Former NFL/Dancing with the Stars star busted Thursday morning.

Breaking report: Former NFL pro and Season 9 Dancing With the Stars contestant Lawrence Taylor was arrested on rape charges early Thursday morning in New York state. Here's the latest.

Lawrence Taylor is an American Hall of Fame football player who spent his entire career playing linebacker for the New York Giants. Taylor's years with the Giants spanned from 1981 to 1993, and in 2009 he was a well-loved contestant on Season 8 of Dancing With the Stars. (Taylor's pro partner was Edyta Sliwinska. He was eliminated in the seventh week of the show in late April 2009.)

But news erupted Thursday morning when Lawrence Taylor was arrested on rape charges. Police took Taylor into custody after finding him at a Holiday Inn in upscale Ramapo, New York (located in Rockland County, just outside New York City).

It's reported a female told police that Lawrence Taylor had raped her very early Thursday morning at the same Holiday Inn where Taylor was found. According to the latest reports, Lawrence Taylor is being held in a Rockland County jail right now.

This is not Lawrence Taylor's first brush with the law. Taylor was known to suffer a drug addiction after his career with the Giants ended, leading to multiple arrests, and Radar has this on Lawrence Taylor's criminal history: "The 51-year-old NFL legend was arrested on a hit-and-run charge last November in Florida, and has a history of drug-related offenses, including two suspensions during his playing days, and two arrests in a three-year span."
