Liam Neeson Becomes American Citizen
We're glad to have him.
Liam Neeson and his children are still trying to take "each day as it comes." Since losing his wife, actress Natasha Richardson, in a horrific ski accident earlier this year, the actor has decided to become an American citizen.
In an interview with ABC's Good Morning America, Neeson said his family has received "extraordinary condolence letters" from the American people, a fact that has greatly helped him get through his grief. It has also influenced his decision about becoming a naturalized citizen.
"That is partly the reason why I've recently become an American citizen," Neeson told the show's host, Diane Sawyer. "I'm still a proud Irishman, of course," he added, "but I've become an American citizen - I'm very proud of that."
Also in the interview, the Schindler's List actor paid tribute to the late Massachusetts senator Ted Kennedy.
"I met him a couple of times over the years, and he wrote my family a very, very beautiful, touching condolence letter when Natasha died earlier this year," Neeson said. "He was a special man. It's the end of an era."
