Biography
Chace Crawford was born on July 18, 1985 in Lubbock, Texas to Chris and Dana Crawford, a dermatologist and teacher respectively. He has one sibling, younger sister Candice Crawford who competes in beauty pageants. She won Miss Missouri USA 2008 and is currently rumored to be dating Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
Crawford attended Trinity Christian Academy for high school where he played football and golf. He did some work during his teen years as a model in Dallas, Texas where he was living but no acting. After that he moved to Malibu, California where he attended Pepperdine University and studied broadcast journalism. After struggling while determining which career path to take, he decided to pursue acting. He was signed by an agent almost immediately.
Crawford got his first roles in 2006: a made-for-TV movie Long Lost Son and feature film The Covenant. In 2007, Crawford landed a dream role - the part of Nate Archibald on CW's high school drama Gossip Girl. He stars alongside Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick, and Taylor Momsen. Gossip Girl is a drama adapted from the best-selling book series of the same name, written by Cecily von Ziegesar. Season 1 debuted on September 19, 2007 and wrapped up on May 19, 2008. The first season was filmed during the 2007-2007 writer's strike so only 18 episodes were filmed. Season 2 started on September 1, 2008 and ended May 25, 2009.
Since being cast in the CW hit, he's landed roles in two 2008 feature films: Loaded with Jesse Metcalfe and The Haunting of Molly Hartley with AnnaLynne McCord. He also did some voice work on Fox's animated hit, The Family Guy.
Crawford also has roles in two movies hitting theaters in 2010: as a drug dealer in the drama Twelve and as the lead character Ren McCormack in the remake of the 1984 hit movie Footloose.
The third season of Gossip Girl premieres on September 14, 2009 on the CW.
