Biography
Lauren Katherine Conrad was born on February 1, 1986 in Laguna Beach to Jim and Kathy Conrad. She has two younger siblings, sister Breanna and brother Brandon.
During Conrad's senior year of college, MTV approached Conrad and her circle of friends to star in a reality show. It was pitched as the real version of the hit Fox show, The O.C.. After agreeing to the show, MTV documented their senior year including love triangles, fights between friends, and other high school drama in a show called Laguna Beach. Lauren, also known as LC, was a part of the one of the main plotlines-the love triangle between her, Stephen Colletti and Kristin Cavallari.
After high school graduation (and the first season of Laguna Beach,) Conrad moved to San Francisco to attend the Academy of Art University. While there, she met Heidi Montag. After just one semester at the school, Conrad decided she missed home and returned to Laguna Beach. She was featured in several episodes of the second season of Laguna Beach and enrolled in a local college. She also took classes at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.
.
In 2006, Conrad decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue her fashion career. MTV created a spin-off of Laguna Beach called The Hills, which chronicled Conrad's new life in LA. The reality show covered her internship at Teen Vogue as well as her and her friend's social lives. The show debuted on May 31, 2006. Other cast members on the first season of The Hills included Whitney Port, Audrina Patridge, and Heidi Montag.
Conrad stayed on the show for four more seasons, departing in the middle of season 5. Over the course of the show, the main plotline was the friendship (or lack thereof) between Conrad and roommate Heidi Montag. Conrad didn't like Montag's boyfriend Spencer Pratt and it caused a lot of friction in the girls' relationship. Evenutally Heidi moved out and married Pratt. Soon after, Spencer Pratt started a rumor about Conrad and an alleged sex tape; he later admitted he'd made the whole thing up.
In the third season of The Hills, Conrad left Teen Vogue and went to work at People's Revolution with her friend Whitney Port (who was also a former Teen Vogue intern.)
In 2008, Conrad developed her own signature fashion line, Lauren Conrad Collection. Her line debuted at the Mercedes Benz LA Fashion Week in March 2008. A year later, she announced she was putting the line on hold for a few seasons.
.
After raising her profile on Laguna Beach and The Hills, Conrad was asked to be the first ever spokesperson of mark cosmetics in 2007. In 2008, she also became the spokesperson for College Tonight.
In 2009, Conrad was featured as a guest judge on the hit fashion reality show, America's Next Top Model. She also released her first novel, LA Candy which had some semi-autobiographical roots. Her follow up book, Sweet Little Lies (An LA Candy Novel) is due in February 2010.
Over the course of Conrad's reality career, her love life has been covered extensively in the weekly tabloids and on the gossip blogs. During her time on Laguna Beach, she was first linked somewhat to Stephen Colletti and then Jason Wahler. When she moved to LA, Conrad continued to date Jason Wahler with much of the show's drama the first season centering on their relationship. Once they broke up, Conrad dated Brody Jenner for a short while and then minor league baseball player Doug Reinhardt. During 2008, she met and started dating My Boys actor Kyle Howard. Conrad chose not to feature him on her show The Hills. They've kept their relationship below the radar and are still dating today.
