Biography
Whitney Eve Port was born in Los Angeles, California on March 4, 1985 to Jeffrey and Vicki Lyn Port. Her father owns Swarm, a fashion company. She has four siblings: brother Ryan and sisters Paige, Jade, and Ashley. Port attended Warner Avenue Elementary School and Crossroads School for the Arts and Sciences for high school. She attended University of Southern California and graduated with a degree in gender studies.
Port realized she wanted to work in fashion and got internships at Women's Wear Daily for two summers and W Magazine for three summers while she was at University of Southern California. She then landed an internship at Teen Vogue. Soon after, Port became a cast member of the MTV reality show, The Hills, which featured her and cast mate Lauren Conrad interning at Teen Vogue.
For the first season of The Hills, Port was mostly featured during the segments filmed at Teen Vogue with Conrad. At the end of season one, Conrad was offered an internship in Paris, which she turned down. Port went in her place. In the second season, Port was featured more consistently outside of the internship and at social events. In season three, Port accepted a job at PR firm People's Revolution. Conrad followed soon after.
In 2008, Port was given her own reality TV show on MTV, The City. The show followed her as she moved to New York to accept a position at Diane von Furstenberg's design house. It debuted on December 29, 2008 and will return for a second season on September 29, 2009. In the season finale of season one, Port returned to work at the PR firm People's Revolution for founder Kelly Cutrone.
In addition to her internships and PR work in fashion, Port has also done some modeling. She's walked in a runway show and in season one of The Hills, she modeled a dress on Good Morning America. She tripped during this live taping and was praised for keeping her poise during the taping. She also graced the covers of several magazines including Teen Vogue, Rolling Stone, Seventeen, and Cosmopolitan.
Port has also added fashion designer to her resume. In March 2008, she revealed her line called Whitney Eve. It features cocktail dresses and party dresses. It was also featured in New York Fashion Week in September 2009.
Port's romantic life was covered extensively on The City. On the show, she dated musician Jay Lyon. They broke up towards the end of season one. She also was linked to Freddy Fackelmayer though they've reportedly broken up.
