Lindsay Lohan May Play Elizabeth Taylor In Made for TV Movie
From Monroe To Taylor: Lohan Can At Least Pretend To Be A Screen Icon
Lindsay Lohan is on a roll. After emulating Marilyn Monroe in those (yawn) Playboy shots, she is now said to be considering channeling another Hollywood screen goddess, Elizabeth Taylor. But, thankfully, with her clothes on this time.
According to Deadline, the 25-year-old "actress" is in early talks for the female lead in Lifetime’s original movie Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story. The movie will chronicle the enduring love of movie icons Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, whose fiery romance was the most notorious, publicized, and bejeweled love affair of its day.
A 2004 Slate magazine article once compared Lohan to the radiant Taylor, and aside from noting the physical resemblance, said, “both had domineering stage mothers, little semblance of a real childhood, fame from a young age, substance abuse issues, public emotional outpourings, and copious amounts of tabloid drama. The key difference, though, is that Elizabeth Taylor had a true record of achievement before she became the most notorious movie star in America.”

Although she's been busy working her new job at the morgue (that is, when she turns up), Lohan hasn't worked onscreen since a stint in Labor Pains and Machete. In fact, Lohan has been out of work for so long, that her SAG medical insurance has lapsed.

Unlike Taylor, Lohan has never won an Oscar, amassed multiple husbands, or had treasures named after her. It's fair to say that, despite some similarities, she'll have a hard time relating to Taylor as a character. Still, there is an opportunity here for Lohan to salvage her car crash of a career, and we kind of hope she'll embrace it. 2012 could be a turnaround for her. Now, who do we think should be cast as Richard Burton?
