Love It! Joan Rivers Gets Kicked Out of Costco
During Staged Protest, She Compares The National Retailer to Nazi Germany
As if we needed another reason to love Joan Rivers - the no-holds-barred grand dame of comedy and sharp-tongued fashion critic - she just got herself forcefully removed from a Burbank, California Costco for staging a one-woman protest!
Rivers' cause: herself. She staged the event to protest the fact that Costco has refused to sell her latest book, I Hate Everyone...Starting With Me, because of its X-rated language and racy content. Showing up with just a megaphone and her 79 year-old self, Joan blasted the retail chain while (this is our favorite part) handcuffing herself to a shopping cart.
Police were called, but realizing Joan wasn't a threat to public safety, they simply escorted her out of the store rather than arrest her on site. But our Joannie got what she was looking for: attention. Several local news crews rushed to the scene to capture it on camera.
When they arrived, Rivers was ready for them with a headline-grabbing statement, saying: "Costco should not be like Nazi Germany," yelled Rivers. "Next thing they'll be burning the Bible."

"This is a store that sells 300 rolls of toilet paper at the same time," she joked. "I say that any customer who buys 300 rolls of toilet paper deserves a funny book to sit on the toilet and read!"
Well, that we can agree on.
