Martha Stewart Doesn't Like Your Family or Your Clutter
Employees, please put away your blue pens - Pop Quiz!
Remember back in elementary school when your teacher would remind you to clean up your desk before heading home for an afternoon of cookies, board games and bike rides, oh yeah, and homework? Remember those stressful desk checks teachers would unexpectedly impose on you, just to make sure you were keeping your 3rd grade life spic and span? Well, if you work for Martha Stewart this could be a very ADULT reality!
Reportedly, Martha is borderline obsessed with maintaining a clutter-free, uber-organized, extra clean office - um duh! This means no personal photos, knick-knacks or tchotchkeys of any kind - only pens (ones approved by Martha, of course - no blue ink!) and Martha Stewart embossed paper.
And just like back in the day, employees must leave behind a tidy cube when they depart at the end of the day.
Don't get me wrong, the P-Touch is one of my favorite items in the whole wide world. I'd label everything if I could, and in some cases (mainly my medicine cabinet), I have. But this is quite ridiculous even for Martha Stewart standards. How many times do you think this woman even enters the office? Once a month maybe? Totally uncalled for.
Someone once said that creative clutter isn't clutter at all, but inspiration. I think someone in Martha's office should enlighten her with this factoid next time she insists on seeing the inside of a desk drawer.
