Mary Hart Leaving 'Entertainment Tonight' After 30 Years

ET is Hart-less.

Mary Hart can finally take a breath. After 30 years of reporting on the goings-on about Hollywood and the world of celebrities, the veteran reporter has announced she will be leaving her job as host of Entertainment Tonight.

Hart, 59, has spent half her life on the popular entertainment show, and now she says it's time to move on.

"I've had the privilege of spending 29 years doing something I love -- how often does that happen?," said Hart. "I've reached a point when I clearly realize it's time for a change. There are many things I want to do in my life and I'd better get on with them."

Hart says she will be exiting the CBS program, which is the highest-rated syndicated magazine show on television, after its upcoming 30th season.

And Hart's colleagues are sad to see her go. "Mary is one of my closest friends," said ET's longtime executive producer Linda Bell Blue, "and although I respect her decision, I will miss her tremendously."

So who's going to fill the sparkly host's shoes? The network has so far not made a decision on a replacement. For now, Bell Blue says they want to just focus on making Hart's last year one to remember.

"Right now we are focused on making this next season the very best in her long history with ET," Blue sais. "We're going to have a lot of fun this year!"
