Matt Damon Hails The Declaration Of Independence
Matt Damon hailed one of America's constitutional cornerstones, the Declaration Of Independence, as a reader that never goes out of date. "It is an incredible document – I think people either forget about it or have been taught it too early in their lives," said Damon, who reads the declaration in an upcoming History Channel documentary titled The People Speak.
Damon continued: "It's a document worth reading and re-reading every single year because it's the principles in that document that we should be loyal to and fight for and struggle for, rather than whichever government is in power." Damon has co-executive produced the documentary, which is based on a book by Howard Zinn titled A People's History Of The United States. Other stars to appear and give readings in the film include Marisa Tomei, Josh Brolin, Viggo Mortensen and Morgan Freeman.
