Michael Cera Expects 'Arrested Development' Movie Next Year
Michael Cera gets our hopes up
Where exactly did Michael Cera come from? Lots of people might think Juno. But he actually made his big in the cult favorite television show Arrested Development. When the show was canceled, fans were devastated. News of an Arrested Development movie has been swirling around for a while now. And now Michael Cera has an update for us.
Michael Cera really wants to do an Arrested Development movie (despite what you may have heard) and says, "I think sometime next year, hopefully, we'll be shooting... I hope [we'll shoot in 2010]. I think that's realistic."
In fact, Michael's schedule seems pretty wide open right about now. He's releasing Youth in Revolt at the beginning of January 2010, but then has nothing to do. He says, "I don't have anything lined up right now... I'm just going to see what comes along." Um, can the Arrested Development come along right about now?
I have a feeling going back to do an Arrested Development movie must feel a little bit like what it felt like for the ladies of Sex and the City to go back for their movies. Michael says, "I'm really excited to get to be around everyone again... It was so weird when the show was canceled. You're doing a TV show, and it feels like family, and then you're not doing it anymore." The show also starred Will Arnett, Portia de Rossi, Jason Bateman, David Cross.
In case you're still skeptical, Michael Cera reiterates his confidence that a movie will be made in talking about how he's excited to see costar Alia Shawkat: "I'm excited to get to work with her again... I'm pretty sure it will happen." Yes! I can't wait until we get the final word and this movie goes into production!
