What a load of shit. Salvia is only dangerous if you do it alone in a negative environment. Wow, talk about being overly dramatic. Salvia is not dangerous. It's affects don't even usually last more then 10 minutes. Probably has something to do with the fact that it is, like you said, NOT illegal. I personally don't smoke Salvia, so don't think that I'm just trying to defend it because I do so myself. But I've seen others smoke it and I've never even had the slightest impression that maybe it was a harm to them, or anybody around them. Also, like somebody before me mentioned, it doesn't take much experience to know if you are having a bad trip with any drug. If it's a bad trip you're going to know, whether it's your 1st time or your 10th time. That being said, she wasn't doing anything illegal so get the hell off her back. Salvia is not dangerous at all. It is proven to not be addictive. The high it produces is too short lived for a person to get into any serious trouble during the trip and you don't feel like moving around much anyways. Still not convinced, look up "salvia", I mean really read about salvia. See a study, read its methodology. When it comes to any drug study you can't truly trust it until you've investigated its methodology, because drugs have become such a politically-charged issue. If you see a news story about it I'd look for more information to compare. News stories are often slanted. In Delaware a mom got the state to ban salvia by blaming it for her son's suicide. Her son had a history of alcohol abuse which does have a risk of leading to suicide. Even though there's no scientific proof showing that salvia use will make you suicidal, and in fact there are studies right now showing promising antidepressant effects of salvia she was able to get Delaware to quickly ban the herb. Why? Knowledge impatience. People want to know the truth right away. People don't want to stop and think "wait a minute, what if there's something I don't know. I better research this a little bit more." This attitude has unfortunately reached our representatives who don't even bother to read the bills presented to them. This attitude needs to change. For example, I know enough people who have no problems with driving drunk or high. I see no reason to expect salvia smokers to be any different. If it can alter a person's ability to safely conduct themselves in the world, it is dangerous. I can understand why a parent wouldn't want their child smoking this stuff. 3. I don't accept this whole, "she's just a kid, let her experiment" argument. She's a teenager, yes (and she's one of the first of the whole "generation me" teenage movement I identified above). But she's a teenager who made her fame and fortune on the payroll of Disney, implicitly providing a positive image for children to aspire to. She's been placed, apparently voluntarily, in a position of trust. That's all I have to say on the matter.
