Mindy Kaling to Write, Voice Primetime NBC Cartoon
"The Office's" Mindy Kaling Signs on for NBC Animated Comedy
Mindy Kaling's star is on the rise and she's got another upcoming project to add to her resume -- writing and lending her voice to a new primetime animated series.
Kaling works as the co-executive producer and writer for The Office, as well as plays the role of the always adorable Kelly Kapoor.
Kaling has also recently written a successful book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? and has co-starred in a number of films. She'll next be seen in The Five-Year Engagement.
This new TV project teams Kaling with Greg Daniels, executive producer of The Office and Parks & Recreation.

Kaling will not only write for the new cartoon, but she'll voice a character as well.
The currently unnamed cartoon will focus on a girls' high-school volleyball team. I'm not yet sure how that translates into laughs, but with Kaling attached, I'm hopeful.
There's currently no word on when the new NBC animated series will air, but Daniels is also working with Parks & Rec producer Alan Yang on an animated series about 20 somethings sharing a house in LA.

While Kaling has yet to comment on the new deal, she is actively pimping The Office's Christmas episode, tweeting, "Office Christmas ep tonight. @edhelms directs it, Kemper steals it, @ZooeyDeschanel lent Christmas tunes for it, @rainnwilson destroys it."
