Narciso Rodriguez to Design Claire Danes' Wedding Gown
Use your friends wisely
Claire Danes is having her long-time friend and fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez design her wedding dress for her upcoming nutpuals to Hugh Dancy. We can't wait to see what it looks like!
How nice it must be to have friends that are also amazing designers. Claire Danes just took designer Narciso Rodriguez as her date to the CFDA Fashion awards, where she wore a dress designed by him. And now he has agreed to design her wedding dress. Claire says, "He's making it. I get weepy... more emotional than I was expecting."
And Claire is pretty much leaving the dress design up to him: "I'm so privileged. I'm collaborating a little bit, but I'm just trusting him implicitly. I'm offing my ideas, but they always pale in comparison to his."
Narciso Rodriguez is an American fashion designer with Cuban parents. He designed the dress Michelle Obama wore as she made her first appearance as the wife of President-Elect Barack Obama. He also designed the dress Caroline Bessett Kennedy wore for her 1996 wedding to John F. Kennedy Jr. Some of his other clients include Sarah Jessica Parker, Salma Hayek, and Rachel Weisz.
But there's probably nothing like making a wedding dress for one of your best friends. Narciso Rodriguez says of designing Claire's dress, "She's an extraordinary woman inside and out. That always comes through. You can't hide it. I just try to make her look more beautiful. And it's not hard to make her look beautiful." Aww, we have a feeling he'll do an extraordinary job!
