Nicole Kidman Talks Demeaning Side of Hollywood

Nicole Kidman's getting points with us here at LimeLife: she's speaking out about roles women play in Hollywood, and how they're often not ideal. Nicole testified before a House Foreign Affairs Committee yesterday to say that Hollywood has most likely contributed to violence against women.

Nicole's testimony was part of her work as an Ambassador for the U.N. Development Fund for Women. She supports the International Violence Against Women Act, which will need to be re-introduced after a few setbacks. It would be marvelous to get something like this in place, so perhaps with Nicole's help, it will be seen through 'til the end this time!

"I can't be responsible for all of Hollywood, but I can certainly be responsible for my own career," Nicole said. She testified that she will not take a role if she finds it demeaning in any way, or believes that it will contribute towards violence towards women. (I'd love to see a list of some of her least-favorite roles that she believes have contributed to this serious issue!)
