Nicole Richie "complained of pain" after unlicensed paparazzo rear-ended her.

Some showbiz reporters take things a little too far. Monday afternoon around two o'clock Pacific time, Nicole Richie was rear-ended while driving in Beverly Hills. Richie's black Land Rover was damaged, as was the front of the paparazzo's Mercedes.

Nicole Richie was traveling on Wilshire Boulevard when the pap lost control of his vehicle and slammed in to the back of her. Nicole reportedly experienced pain although the location of the ailments aren't known. When her brother-in-law Benji Madden and police arrived at the scene, they did not call paramedics because Nicole said she would seek her own treatment.

Neither of Richie's kids were with her, but it's said an adult male passenger rode along. There's no word on his condition.

The paparazzo was arrested and taken to the police station because -- get this -- when authorities asked for his license, he wasn't able to present one. Sources say he's a 29-year-old freelance photographer by the name of Eduardo Arrivebene (which, ironically, is the Italian translation for "arrives well").

Still we'd rather have Nicole Ritchie's car problems than the Gosselins' divorce money woes.
