Nicole Richie Welcomes A Son

We heard rumors that Nicole had gone into labor and now we can confirm that she has given birth to a healthy baby boy. Nicole Richie and husband Joel Madden have named their new bundle of joy Sparrow.

The couple has kept their fans updated via Richie's website. They wrote, "In the middle of night, the very early hours of September 9, 2009, Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born to Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. He weighs 7 lbs. 14 oz. Nicole, Joel, Harlow and Sparrow are all doing well. Thank you for all of your good wishes."

This is the couple's second child. New baby Sparrow has an older sister, Harlow Winter Kate Madden who Riche gave birth to in January 2008.
