No More 'Sex and the City' Movies Will Be Made

Lots of disappointment

Before Sex and the City 2 came to theaters, we were already talking about how excited we were that there would likely be a third movie with our favorite ladies... And maybe even more! But now we're hearing that "Sex and the City 3" will never be. Are you disappointed?

Why are we being forced to say goodbye to our favorite group of NYC girls? Well, Sex and the City 2 just didn't perform at the box office like expected on its first weekend. And since it made so much less money than the first movie, it's understood that the third movie would make even less. Wah wah, we're a little bit upset, though.

According to a source to PopEater.com, "If the movie had performed as well as the studio had hoped they would definitely made a third film, but after these numbers, it's over. They have squeezed as much money out of that franchise as they possibly can and the public knows it." Yes, we do know it, but that doesn't mean we have to like it.

Don't get us wrong; we're glad Sex and the City isn't going to outstay it's welcome, but we do wish it had performed better this weekend so that at least one more movie could be made. We do believe there are more stories that could be told! And we think this second movie would have fared a bit better if more of it had taken place in NYC. Unfortunately, Sex and the City only made $36.8M this weekend, while Shrek Forever After (Shrek 4) made $57M, proving that some sequels really can bring in the dough.
