Oscars 2010 Nominees: The Surprising Snubs
The rundown of Oscar nomination snubs.
Have you seen the complete list of Academy Awards 2010 nominees? There are some eyebrow-raising murmurs orbiting the film industry as a result...here's a list of the would-be nominees that some insiders are shocked didn't make the list. (Yep, Brad Pitt was left out!)
According to Us, Brad Pitt had a lot of Oscar nominee potential for his performance as Lt. Aldo Raine in Inglourious Basterds. He didn't get a nod, however, despite the critical acclaim he received and the film being up for Best Picture (with a whopping nine other nominees -- there are usually only five)!
Daniel Day Lewis, who has been referred to by many industry pros as the best actor in the world, also didn't make the Oscar nominee list. Sources thought he might go up for Best Actor in Nine.
And while Julia Roberts had a Golden Globe nom for Duplicity, she got nothing in this year's Oscar nominations. (Maybe the Academy is just sick of how she behaves on the red carpet?)
Nine's Marion Cotillard, winner of the 2008 Academy Award for Best Actress after her grand-slam in La Vie En Rose, didn't get a nod for her Nine role...although "Take It All," the song she performed in the film, is up for Best Song.
Insiders had their eye on Emily Blunt for her performance in The Young Victoria, but she slid off the Oscar radar too (good thing she says she doesn't want to be a celebrity!) Also Clint Eastwood didn't receive a nom for his directing in Invictus.
