Ozzy Osbourne has been left devastated after his Pomeranian was eaten by a coyote. The pet pooch, who wildman Ozzy called Little Bit, was attacked in the grounds of the family's Los Angeles mansion.

Ozzy and wife Sharon were said to have been watching the Michael Jackson memorial at the time and unable to hear Little Bit's cries. "He is devastated - she was his other woman," said daughter Kelly Osbourne. A source close to the family added: "Sharon and Ozzy love their dogs to bits. It's like losing a family member. They are both devastated." The Osbournes keep 18 dogs at their Los Angeles mansion, often taking in strays and Sharon regularly visits a home for stray dogs. Friends of the family have joked the attack could be 'revenge' for some of Ozzy's previous animal antics. The former Black Sabbath frontman notoriously bit the head of a live dove during a meeting with record executives and he also once bit off the head of a bat after mistaking it for a rubber toy. "Maybe the coyote was friends with the dove's family? So many people are linked in Hollywood. Whatever the case it's still Ozzy 2, Animal Kingdom 1," the friend added. Coyotes are a focus of Los Angeles authorities, which issued a warning and guidelines about attacks on pets. The Department of Animal Services warned: "Wild animals are opportunistic and coyotes fit this mould very well."
