Paula Abdul Ousted From American Idol?

What will we do without the mess that is Paula?

We all know that Simon Cowell will be back for the next season of American Idol. For a mere $140 million. But is it true that the show's producers aren't planning on extending Paula Abdul's contract at all?

Sure, sometimes Paula Abdul is a bit of a mess. And somtimes we're more than convinced she's on some heavy drugs. But, still. We cannot imagine American Idol without her. She's been there from the start and part of the entertainment of the show is watching the interactions between Paula and Simon.

So, does it look like the show is going to renew Paula's contract? According to Paula's agent, no. David Sonenberg says, "Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on Idol... I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that [Idol production companies Fremantle and 19 Entertainment] haven't stepped up and said what they want to do."

So do we! Paula has been such a loyal judge on the show, why wouldn't they want her back? Could it be that they've run out of money after offering Simon Cowell $140 million to renew his contract?

And it's not that Paula doesn't want to return to Idol, because she does. According to her agent, "She's not a happy camper as a result of what's going on. She's hurt. She's angry." He even hints that Paula might come out with her own type of competition show.

We hope American Idol gets their senses together and renews her contract. The show just won't be the same without her!
