Paula Abdul's New Show to Compete with 'American Idol'

What is CBS trying to do? They obviously recognized how many people are missing Paula Abdul on American Idol. And now that the entire American Idol judging panel has been muddled, CBS sees it as their chance to take over. Which is why they're airing Paula Abdul's new dance show during the American Idol time slot.

You'll be forced to choose! Of course, there's always DVR, but you can only watch one show live. Would you rather see how Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez do as the new judges on American Idol or watch Paula Abdul in her new gig on Live to Dance? Gah, life is full of tough choices!

And CBS is playing it really smart by making sure Paula Abdul's show airs a couple weeks before Idol. They're likely hoping you'll get hooked and then stick with Live to Dance once American Idol comes back to television.

Paula Abdul's show will premiere on January 5, with a dance-off in which 18 contestants will be chosen to move on as finalists. On January 12, the contestants will begin competing against each other. As we already know, the first few weeks of American Idol consist of auditions.
