Prince Family Paper - The Office
Oh Michael Scott...
The Office was back at full-force tonight. We had an awesome prank in the opening teaser. The classic Dwight/Michael dynamic. Pretty much the entire cast getting some sort of great one-liner (or in the case of Kevin, about eight one-liners), and a totally random Hillary Swank bashing. Read on for the recap and my thoughts on why this is an ep worth watching!
Episode: Prince Family Paper
Michael is given a nod to do some important field assignment to scope out Prince Family Paper. Who in their right mind would give Michael an actual responsibility? Of course he takes Dwight, who suggests on the ride over that Michael may have to seduce the owner's hypothetical, beautiful daughter. We also learn that he is anti-IHOP because he is anti-socialist. What? Once at Prince Family Paper, they tag-team harass the nice family who run the operation for data that will help Dunder Mifflin crush them into the ground. Even though they succeed with their "brilliantly" crafted ruse to get the 411, the Prince's sweetness weighs heavily on Michael.
.
Meanwhile, back at the office, there is much debate about celebrity beauty. How interesting. In a hilarious Hillary Swank-bashing pow-wow, Kevin plays the part of your classic Internet troll, who needs to be convinced that a woman he could NEVER get is "hot." Kelly breaks down with the classic "If she's not hot, then I'm not hot" freakout that your friend has every time you slag on Jennifer Aniston, Pam preaches to the ladies that the Kevins of the world shouldn't be allowed to decide anything ("We don't even give him full Internet access."), and Oscar uses science to argue against her hotness.
Did Michael turn his spy info over to corporate? Who wins the Hillary Swank debate? Watch and find out!
My favorite bits:
- - Jim gets 500 feet of red wire at a flea market and puts it to useful purpose on Dwight. If only Jim could harness his talent for insane pranking in some constructive way.
- - Who got hot when Michael and Dwight did that lip-licking thing to each other? No? Me neither, just a little mouth throw-up.
- - I would like to see a "single-celled shark."
- - Kevin's quotables this episode were sublime: "She looks like a monster." (on Hillary Swank) "I don't want to bang a painting." (on the difference between beauty and hotness) "It's 'Is she hot?' 'Not would you do her?' Respect the game." (on his change of heart in the debate)
- - Big geeky word kudos Angela for stating: "Hot is a temperature, people."
- - Dwight's animals devouring animals scenarios were terrifying.
- - Stanley's impassioned speech about how hot H. Swank is was awesome. They don't use him nearly enough on the show.
Overall, I dug this episode. Any episode with a Jim-on-Dwight prank is good by me!
