Rachel Roy Debuts Short Film For Spring/Summer Collection
And it includes a look at her designs
Remember when we told you about Rachel Roy's budget friendly line coming to Macy's? Squeee! I still haven't gotten over the excitement and love pretty much every piece. Now Rachel is bringing her Spring/Summer line to Macy's and has collaborated with indie director Jennifer Venditti on a short film that flaunts her fashion philosophy.
Yes, it does seem like short films from fashion designers is the thing to do these days. But, Rachel Roy's film is especially good. Why? Well, I love the message the film is trying to send. And also, we actually get to peek at Rachel Roy's clothes. I've been hating these fashion designer films that don't even feature the designer's collection!
Rachel Roy's film titled "Miroir Mirror" features a girl wearing an oversized sweatshirt and leggings and apparently feeling quite frumpy. But then she steps behind a curtain a reemerges several times dressed in Rachel Roy fashions. And looking absolutely adorable. She steps over to the mirror and ends up going through it to an alternate world. The 5-minute film ends with a stop sign featuring the words, "Stop worrying."
According to Rachel Roy, this message "signifies something different to everyone... Essentially, it means that we should stop worrying about what others think and express ourselves however we feel... As a designer, I hope to create pieces that encourage girls to express themselves. We should live life." Aww, I love that message and love that Rachel Roy actually wants to encourage girls to be themselves.
And the very best part is that we can get Rachel Roy's new collection at Macy's. She says the collection "is designed for those brave enough to be individuals and to chart their own way in life." And that definitely sounds like our kind of collection!
