Rob Lowe Leaving 'Brothers and Sisters'
On to greener pastures?
Actor Rob Lowe is leaving the family behind. The actor will reportedly be abandoning his role as Senator Robert Alexander McCallister on the hit ABC show Brothers & Sisters.
According to Lowe's spokesman, the actor will be leaving after the current season. Rumors are that Lowe felt he wasn't a central part of the drama, and that he was being underutilized.
Lowe currently plays Robert McCallister, a Republican Senator who is currently married to Kitty Walker (played by Calista Flockhart). McCallister started out as a redurring character and soon became a series regular.
Apparently that wasn't good enough for Lowe, and now writers will have to figure out a way to get rid of his character. But don't feel bad for the St. Elmo's Fire actor -- he may have his own show in the works.
"We would like to keep Rob at ABC," said Steve McPherson, ABC's entertainment president. "We feel he should be anchoring his own franchise. We are in talks now."
