Robert Pattinson Lands Romantic Lead

Will it live up to Edward Cullen?

Robert Pattinson is hard at work filming the Twilight sequel, New Moon, in Vancouver. But, Summit Entertainment thinks that Robert is more than just sexy vampire, Edward Cullen.

The studio has cast Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson in the leading role of their new romantic drama Remember Me. According to MTV.com, Remember Me will tell "a story of a young couple whose burgeoning relationship is complicated by a succession of family tragedies that test their bond." Although Summit is being secretive on the details of the story, Patrick Wachsberger, the studio's co-chairman/CEO, compared Remember Me to the 1970's romance Love Story, which starred Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal.

No news yet on who Pattinson's co-star and love interest will be.

The film is set to shoot in New York this summer. Pattinson will start work on Remember Me after New Moon wraps and will be back in time to film the third in the Twilight series, Eclipse, which begins filming at the end of August.

This is Robert Pattinson's fist major lead role since his instant Twilight fame. We love Robert as Edward Cullen and are counting the days until New Moon comes out. But, now we have more to look forward to! It will be nice to see what he's like as a romantic human with some color on his cheeks.
