Ryan Seacrest Gets Apology from Army for Stalker
When fame gets ugly.
It seems contestants on American Idol aren't the only ones who drive fans crazy. Host Ryan Seacrest has been been battling a stalker recently, and now it's been revealed that the man is a former member of the Army's special forces.
Chidi Uzomah Jr. entered the offices of E! on Friday armed with a knife and attempted to get to Seacrest before being arrested. As it turns out, Uzomah was a sergeant with the Army Reserves under the 426th Civil Affairs Battalion – a part of the Army's special forces.
Afterwards, an Army spokesman realeased a statement directly to Seacrest. "We apologize to Ryan Seacrest," he said. "Pending the outcome of the local investigation, the Army will decide what further action to take. We take all matters of our personnel seriously."
Jeez. It sounds like Ryan really escaped a bad one there. Hopefully Uzomah, who faces a three-year restraining order and disciplinary action from the Army, won't have a chance to get close to the host again. Seacrest himself was scared of the man.
"His aggressive and violent efforts to come into physical contact with me are extremely frightening to me," said Seacrest in a statement. "They have jeopardized not only my personal safety but also the safety and well-being of those around me."
