Sandra Bullock to Meryl Streep: "Toast to White Trash"
The "feud" continues.
The feud between Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep is fantastic. While we all have our opinions on whom should grab that Oscar, it's cool to see Sandra and Meryl lightening things up and enjoying their nominations. Here's an update on their little war.
If you haven't caught it yet, Meryl and Sandra have been facing off at awards shows, and they made it interesting by smooching at the Critics' Choice Awards recently.
Sandra spoke about the new Oscars face-off, in which she and Meryl are up for Best Actress.
"With Meryl, when this whole thing started, I left her a voice mail going, ‘You've got to watch your back. I'm gonna cut you. I'm gonna take you down,'" Bullock tells the Associated Press. "And then she sent me dead orchids and told me to die, so I sent her a case of liquor and told her to toast to white trash."
Sandra clarified that she doesn't actually have any ill wished towards her fellow nominees, who (besides Meryl) are Carey Mulligan (An Education), Gabourey Sidibe (Previous), and Helen Mirren (The Last Station).
"No one, at least the people that I've met, no one cares about the end result or the statue," she added. "It's being able to sit in close proximity with these ladies ... and we have to go through this whole rigmarole and we just all look at each other and we get to know each other and you laugh at the absurdity of it all and how they pit women up against each other."
The best part is that Sandra is totally cool with getting a Razzie nom as well. "It is the great balance in our business," she said.
