Scarlett Johansson Responds To Crash Diet Claims
She is committed and determined, not crazy.
Scarlett Johansson has been cast to play the Black Widow in Iron Man 2 where she will reportedly have to wear a superhero suit. The costume is said to be latex, which we are assuming is skin tight, like the one Michelle Pfeiffer had when she played catwoman.
Articles have been coming out saying that Scarlett has been losing too much weight too fast and that her methods are unhealthy. The 24-year-old actress wasn't happy by these claims and says that "There is no magic wand to wave over oneself to look good in a latex catsuit. Eating healthy and getting fit is about commitment, determination, consistency and the dedication to self-preservation."
She was so frustrated by these crash diet rumors that she decided to respond publicly via the Huffington Post. Here is an excerpt:
"Claims have been made that I've been on a strict workout routine regulated by co-stars, whipped into shape by trainers I've never met, eating sprouted grains I can't pronounce and ultimately losing 14 pounds off my 5'3" frame. Losing 14 pounds out of necessity in order to live a healthier life is a huge victory. I'm a petite person to begin with, so the idea of my losing this amount of weight is utter lunacy. If I were to lose 14 pounds, I'd have to part with both arms. And a foot. I'm frustrated with the irresponsibility of tabloid media who sell the public ideas about what we should look like and how we should get there."
It's great to see that she is using good old fashioned hard work and healthy eating to get into superhero shape and that she isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in. Keep up the good work ScarJo!
