Scott Weiland "Terminated" From Stone Temple Pilots
Have Weiland's Antics Finally Cost Him His Frontman Gig?
A PR blast from Stone Temple Pilots "people" today says that the band's troubled lead singer, Scott Weiland, has been "terminated."
We checked to make sure that they didn't mean "terminated" in the fatal sense of the word and, thankfully, Weiland is still alive and kicking -- he's just no longer (yet again) a part of the band that made him (somewhat of) a household name.
The band's public relations people promised that more details would be forthcoming, but for now, the entire missive, obtained by MTV, read simply, "Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland.”
Of course, things have never been totally calm and cool for STP since they hit it big back in the 90's grunge-fueled music scene. There were numerous arrests and substance abuse issues that plagued Weiland and he's said to have never gotten along all that famously with brothers Robert DeLeo (bass) and Dean (guitar). Because of the in-fighting and personal issues, Weiland has come and gone from STP over the years working in bands like Velvet Revolver (with former Guns N Roses axeman, Slash) instead.
Is this truly the end of the road for Weiland and STP? Time -- and that teased "more to come" from the band's reps -- will tell.
