Tiger Woods was far from being the only celeb who created a stir on Friday. News hit the press that 49-year-old Sean Penn is being charged with battery and other offenses after smacking around a paparazzo -- here's the story.

Our pals at TMZ reported on the charges on Friday afternoon. The alleged Sean Penn incident took place last October, when Sean Penn was walking down the street in L.A. and a photographer seemed to get in his way. Penn kicked the pap and broke his camera. It also sounds like he may have caused the paparazzo minor injuries.

The Los Angeles City Attorney has filed two misdemeanor charges; one for a battery and one for vandalism. If Sean Penn is found guilty, he may spend up to one and a half years in jail.
