Sex and the City Isn't in a Recession
Should the girls be shopping at Target?
Do you want the movies to reflect your life or do you go to the movies to escape? If you go see the Sex and the City movie sequel when it comes out, you won't notice any signs of a recession.
According to the stylist for the Sex and the City movie sequel, the new movie will not be reflecting our nation's current economic situation when it comes to the clothes the characters will be wearing. Sarah Jessica Parker had originally said the movie would be sensitive to the recession and that "Carrie will have been affected and she's not an idiot. She's gonna have to change from thinking about indulgence."
But stylist Patricia Field says no. She claims, "I wouldn't do it. Of course the four girls are going to be fabulous and flamboyant - otherwise what is the point? I want to do it the other way. I'd be like, 'Forget your troubles.' I don't use the recession as a reference for my creativity."
We think the movie will provide a nice escape from our lives. Which camp are you in? Do you want to go to watch the movie and see the characters indulging in designer clothes and shoes with not a thought of money? Or will it make you angry to see them buying Manolo Blahniks and Chanel when you can't even find a job? And we can only hope that our country won't still be in a recession by the time the Sex and the City movie comes out.
