Should Ashlee Simpson Make a Michael Jackson Tribute Album?

Can she recreate Thriller?

We're thinking it's probably a bad idea. But reports are saying that Papa Joe Simpson is urging Ashlee Simpson to come out with an album of Michael Jackson hits. How on Earth is that a good idea?

We're reall doubtful about this. But according to Page 6, "Joe Simpson, never one to miss an opportunity, is trying to revive Ashlee Simpson's record career by pitching a concept album on which Ashlee would record songs of Michael Jackson."

We have a feeling this would do absolutely nothing to revive Ashlee's career. We actually enjoy Ashlee as a singer, but she shouldn't be trying to be something she's not. We can't even imagine what Ashlee would sound like singing Michael Jackson's songs. And a whole album at that! It just seems a bit disrespectful.

Either Ashlee knows nothing about her father's plans or she's trying to cover it up. She wrote on her Twitter account yesterday, "Haha jeez. I loved MJ enough 2 (sic) never in my wildest dreams think of doing a tribute album. R.I.P. A legend. Enough with the goofy stories."

Let's hope goofy stories is all they are. But if Ashlee is actually planning this, let's hope she at least allows hubby Pete Wentz to join in. Fall Out Boy did a killer rendition of "Beat It" a while back.
