Star Wars actor reveals a new look
Millions have seen him as the cute kid in Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - but these days Jake Lloyd looks unrecognizable from his most famous role. The former child star, now 20, played a fresh-faced Anakin Skywalker, in the incredibly successful 1999 movie.
Now ten years older and appearing over the weekend at the Supanova pop culture expo in Sydney, Australia, he had a much chunkier look – and told how his future was now on the other side of the camera. Speaking in-between signing autographs for fans, he said: “I want to become an editor. “I’m at college now learning all the skills. “I want to work with film footage because it would enable me to work with the results of other people’s genius. I really like that idea. “I loved making the Star Wars film. It was an amazing time of my life. But things move on. “I’m going to be in Australia for a couple of weeks just hanging out with my friends. We’re gong to have an awesome time.” Jake beat 3,000 other child actors to land the Star Wars role when he was just nine years old. He was chosen for the part after being personally interviewed by director George Lucas and being screen tested with co-star Natalie Portman. His last appearance in a film was in the movie Madison made back in 2001.
