You suck Stephenie!
.

Oh no he dinnit!

Horror author and pop culture junkie, Stephen King, has put Twilight author, Stephenie Meyer, on blast. What could the man who is best known for stunning literary masterpieces like Pet Cemetary and Cujo possibly have to say about the new gothic mistress?

"The real difference is that J.K Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn. She's not very good."

Snap.

King is famously obssessed with J.K. Rowling, even going so far as to work portions and references to her Harry Potter series into his sprawling seven-book tome, The Dark Tower - a series that took him 30 years to complete. This scandalous quote comes from an unreleased interview with Us Weekly.

In the interview, he goes on to toot his own horn about his formative influences, discussing other authors he thinks suck despite their success, and slams on Twilight fans further by stating they enjoy the books because they are safe.

"It's exciting and it's thrilling and it's not particularly threatening, because they're not overtly sexual. A lot of the physical side of it is conveyed in things like the vampire will touch her forearm or run a hand over skin, and she just flushes all hot and cold. And for girls, that's a shorthand for all the feelings that they're not ready to deal with yet."

Regardless of how you feel about the Twilight series, it does seem awfully unnecessary for someone who's spent so much of his career decrying his own quality to feel the need to attack another author who clearly writes for a young adult audience. Should an author who writes for adults like King feel compelled to spend so much time questioning the quality of work done for children and teens?

It's like, write more about getting by a van Stephen King. Because that hasn't gotten old yet.

I wish Extreme Makeover still existed. King needs an outfit change and a new haircut. This isn't 1993, King. Denim on denim...really?

The man lives in a Gothic castle. Way to embody the stereotype, man.
