Steve Bing Provides Jet for Bill Clinton Rescue
Bing bling zings to Laura Ling.
Behind every good man is another man with a lot more money. That's what my pappy used to tell me. Even Bill Clinton, the former leader of the free world, has a friendly billionaire benefactor (Steve Bing) on his shoulder, happy to lend him jets to scoot around the world and rescue folks (Laura Ling and Euna Lee) from the clutches of mad men (Kim Jong Il).
In case you've never heard of Bing, the man is known for having a taste for the Democratic Party, the environment and famous women. The only things he spends more money on than contributions to environmental projects and protection legislature are divorce settlements and paternity tests.
Bing was once involved with model and actress Elizabeth Hurley, who in 2001 claimed she was pregnant with his child. The paternity tests proved true, and Bing has been hounded by British tabloids ever since, with monikers like "Bing Laden" and "Spermicidal Maniac."
But now perhaps Bing will have some good press. He offered up one of his jets to longtime friend Bill Clinton on a mission to North Korea. There, two American journalists, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, were being held by Kim Jong Il's government on charges of "illegally entering" the country.
They were sentenced to 12 years hard labor.
But after some fancy diplomacy, Clinton managed to get the women pardoned and on the plane back home. Score one for America.
And score one for Steve Bing.
