Steve Carell is Onboard for 'Anchorman 2'

It's been a while since the first Anchorman movie. But this year seems to be the year for comedy sequels from the past, what with Zoolander 2 and all. Anchorman is certainly a movie lots of people will be excited to see a sequel too; and Steve Carell tells us it really could be happening. But, uh, it could be a while.

While it sounds like an Anchorman 2 really could be happening, nobody is quite sure when it will happen. And since it takes quite a while to produce a movie from start to finish, it could be a long, long time from now. But really, Steve Carell wants it to happen!

According to Steve to MTV, "We're all absolutely into it happening. [The first film] was fun. That was really fun to do... [But] they haven't written a script yet.... I don't think they've [even] decided on a story line yet." Um, OK. Then we'll try not to get too excited just yet.

Allegedly, the movies' co-writers Will Ferrell and Adam McKay have said the only thing standing in the way of another Anchorman is straightening out everyone's schedules. And just recently Steve Carell said, "I spoke to Will about Anchorman 2 about two weeks ago... We would all want to do another one."

So, will it happen or not? At this point we just don't know, but it's at least good to hear that there's a lot of interest from the cast and the writers. We have a feeling an Anchorman sequel would do amazingly well at the box office.
