Swim- Song of the Day
I used to be totally obsessed with Something Corporate. Then I forgot about them for a good long while. Until they kind of came back as Jack's Mannequin. and I like Jack's Mannequin even more than I ever liked Something Corporate.
Clearly, I have a thing for Andrew McMahon and his amazing voice. And knack for writing quality and touching lyrics. It's a huge challenge for me to choose my favorite Jack's Mannequin song, but I'm a pretty big fan of "Swim."
Andrew was diagnosed with leukemia in 2006 and had to fight for his life. He made a full recovery, but you can see how much his illness really affected his musi... in a good way. The lyrics to "Swim" are especially beautiful.
"You gotta swim/Swim for your life/Swim for the music that saves you /When you're not so sure you'll survive...You gotta swim/Swim in the dark/There's no shame in drifting/Feel the tide shifting/And wait for the spark...The currents will drag us away from our love/Just keep your head above/Swim."
It's really difficult not to like Jack's Mannequin. Even if you weren't the biggest fan of Something Corportate, give Jack's Mannequin a listen. You'll be happy you did.
