TLC Shuts Down 'Jon & Kate' Taping, Talks Pending
Is this guy for real?
The Sign on the Gosselin house read: Notice: No film crew or production staff from TLC is permitted on this property under penelty of trespass [sic]. Even though Jon Gosselin's lawyer can't spell "penalty," he brought TLC to its knees...for now.
Reports exploded on Tuesday that Jon Gosselin had been kicked off Jon and Kate Plus 8, turning the show's focus to Kate Gosselin as a single mom under the re-titled Kate Plus 8.
Jon didn't like that. Wednesday he asked for a suspension on his divorce proceedings, and when Kate rejected the request, Jon demanded that taping of Kate Plus 8 "cease and desist," under the grounds that TLC was violating child labor laws.
By Thursday TLC suspended the show, but not without a fight. They have agreed to stop filming the children "pending further discussions," they said in a statement. Basically they still have Jon by the baby-maker as he remains under exclusive TLC contract.
Jon insists he's not being spiteful, but Kate Gosselin disagrees. In a statement Thursday she said, "It appears that Jon's priority is Jon and his interests. My priority remains our children and their well being." She said she's "saddened and confused by Jon's public media statements" and that she wishes to carry on filming of the show because "it provides [my family] opportunities we wouldn't otherwise have."
Sounds like Jon is bitter about losing that nice paycheck.
