Ted Williams, Homeless Golden-Voice Man, Leaves Rehab
Two weeks not enough, probably
Golden-voiced Ted Williams left rehab after only two weeks. Why? Well, rehab is voluntary and you can leave any time you like, and Ted Williams has radio work to get back to... or something. Talk about a feel-good story gone wrong.

Ted Williams' story has been documented at every twist and depressing turn. He got a gig, and in interviews, he said that he had been sober for two years. What happened? He was either lying about sobriety or got caught up in his newfound fame, because he met with Dr. Drew and was shipped off to rehab.
Two weeks in, and Williams is already out. What does Dr. Drew have to say?
"Ted was given the chance to voluntarily enter a drug rehabilitation facility in order to help him in dealing with his dependency on drugs and alcohol. In that it is voluntary, the decision to remain in treatment, is Ted's to make. We certainly hope that he continues his commitment to sobriety, and we will continue to help and support him in any way that we can. We wish him well."

What a terrible turn. After reading that Ted's girlfriend also went to rehab and that his family has serious issues with him, I am not surprised that things went south. After nine years on the streets, it takes more than rehab to make things right.
This story upsets me because I think of all the different reasons why people become homeless. A story like Ted's probably doesn't help shelters and organizations get the donations they need.
