The Bachelor's Jake Pavelka: 'I Will Be' In Mile-High Club

We didn't exactly expect that professional pilot Jake Pavelka would be the star of this season's The Bachelor. Jake's been considered the borderline-hokey, too-perfect tattler from Jillian Harris' season of The Bachelorette...but the new season of The Bachelor premieres Monday, January 4 and in a new interview, Pavelka claims he may be ready to clip his own wings and shed his good-boy image.

First of all, show promos make it sound as though the bachelorettes this season may be more ridiculous than ever. When we first saw the lineup we thought we caught a couple of Tiger Woods' mistresses, but indeed this is just another season of ABC's finest casting. From what we've heard it sounds like two of the female contestants in the house may actually be hooking up with one another...but what's most shocking about this season is definitely Jake's approach to landing a lady.
Jake says that when it comes to the chase, he's shifting his center of gravity to be a little bit more risque. "You get so used to cameras being around it's almost like living a normal life ... I kind of forgot all this was going to air." And so, Jake says, "It's going to be really weird reliving it January 4 and going, 'Oh my gosh, there really were cameras there.'"
So what's going on in the cockpit? "...If I were to go in and meet a girl in Starbucks, date her, start getting really close and then jump into a hot tub with her with a swimsuit on, why not do that?" Jake says. If he's about a girl, he's hitting the gas. "After an unbelievable date, if I want to call her the next morning, I'm just going to call. If that turns her off, 'he's smothering me, it's too much too quick,' then that's okay; we're probably on two different pages and better now than later. When I like someone, I want them to know."
And they'll know, based on this promise. Jake told a reporter who asked him if he's ever had sex on board, "I am not a member of the mile-high club, but I'll leave you with this: I aspire to be -- no I don't aspire to be. I will be."
