The Reason Anderson Cooper Used to Date Girls
At One Point in His Life, Anderson Cooper Dated Girls
Why did Anderson Cooper, who came out as a homosexual man back in July, used to date women? You might think it was because he wasn't sure he was gay, but you'd be wrong.
Nope, Gloria Vanderbilt's son says that's not the reason at all. "Most of my best friends right now are girls who allegedly dated me when we were 13 and 14 who I didn't really know we were dating but they thought we were dating and I was sort of, you know, hoping to meet their brothers." (!)
Funny as that might sound, the uncular talk show host, who grew up with a major silver spoon in his mouth on New York City's tony Upper East Side, claims he knew from a very early age that he was homosexual, even if the girls at the exclusive Dalton school didn't.
The New York Times says that Anderson is "the most prominent openly gay journalist on American television," and, if you think about it, it's hard to name any other TV correspondents who've come out -- excepting of course Carson Kressly or any of the other "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" guys.
As part of his big sexuality announcement last July, Anderson said, "I’ve begun to consider whether the unintended outcomes of maintaining my privacy outweigh personal and professional principle. It’s become clear to me that by remaining silent on certain aspects of my personal life for so long, I have given some the mistaken impression that I am trying to hide something—something that makes me uncomfortable, ashamed or even afraid. This is distressing because it is simply not true...The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud."
He also says that he intends to marry his boyfriend, Benjamin Maisani in New York. They've been dating since 2009.
